The set-up is all here, soaked through the episode's bread and butter, but without a strong central thematic core or the hijinks of "Crypt," The Tick's ambitions overreach.
The weird politics and social dynamics of a world filled with heroes was something done very well in the 2001 series and now, under a darker lens, it has a more Watchmen-like dymanic. But, like, a funnier Watchmen.
As a series, there's not enough going on for The Tick to make it stand out from every other superhero property that's taken over the airwaves.
It's funny, but unlike previous "Tick" series, it's not afraid to get uncomfortably real at times about modern life
