Orange Is The New Black... creates an open and accepted breeding ground for imperfection, while it also helps break down longstanding stereotypes of how ideal female characters are supposed to look, act and feel.

While Kohan can be lazy about the cosseted lives of her heroine's family and friends, she's terrific at evoking prison life's swirl of races, social classes, and sexual preferences, which behind bars can be temporary.

Combining witty yet dark humor with strong and confident drama, Orange is the New Black is both highly addicting and engrossing - combined with probably the best ensemble cast on television right now.

The Netflix format perfectly fits this silly yet harsh prison drama.

Orange is the New Balck brought about the revival of women-in-prison genre with a fresh new start. Taylor Schilling starred as Piper Chapman, a bisexual woman who got sentenced to 15 months of prison because of her past relationship with her ex drug dealing girlfriend. Piper had to adjust her new life with tension arising from her life outside the prison and threats from inside the prison. The writing was clever, I loved the black comedy. The format followed OZ which is reminiscent of the good old days. The acting was natural, each chatacter was able to deliver a stunning performance without any pretense. If you haven't started watching OITNB, it's never too late to start now
