The closest TV's come to an indie vibe.
It is to the show's credit that one wants to tune in and see where these girls actually go.
Instead of glitz, Girls finds humour in the seamier stuff: bad sex, bad bosses, abortions, STDs and, along the way, relationships and self-worth.
One of the things that impresses about Dunham, both the actress and the writer, is how hard she is on herself: There are no forgiving winks or charming bouts of rom-com clumsiness.
Girls is the sort of authentic original you dream of discovering, and once you do, you can't wait for everyone else to discover it.
As creator, director and star of this new HBO sitcom, Dunham is clearly a talent to be reckoned with.

The characters are not exactly likable nor relatable, but it's random and real enough to have me hooked.
