Dark is one of those shows that stays with you long after you've finished watching.
December 29, 2017
Dark is compellingly moody with some interesting sci-fi ideas and questions about fate. But you may be hitting "pause" a lot, trying to clarify who is doing what, and when.

Is it the new Stranger Things? I don't know, but I'm intrigued enough to stick around and find out.
December 19, 2017
It feels safe to say Dark may be one of Netflix's strongest shows to date.
December 11, 2017
Dark doesn't have the nostalgia hook of Stranger Things, and so may not have the same broad appeal, but it's every bit as gripping and arguably spookier.

What sets Dark apart and raises it to the level of truly fine drama is its quietness and beauty.

In place of the American show's ceaseless adrenaline rush, "Dark" offers a hushed, brittle artiness that will be familiar to fans of the French ghost story "The Returned" or the British-French thriller "The Missing."

Netflix's smart new supernatural thriller is mired in philosophical conundrums and enough 1980s nostalgia to keep 'Stranger Things' fanatics hitting next episode.
December 3, 2017

Dark is worth persevering with as the tension is ratcheted from gently claustrophobic to actively unnerving, and the decades-straddling plot settles into an web of conspiracies and buried secrets.

While that might sound frustrating, the thicket of story lines is so intricate that there's no time to get annoyed when one piece of information takes a while to reveal itself. There are too many other elements of the puzzle to continue trying to sort out

Like so much of Dark, it's a dark and dreary message, presented with an artfulness that becomes beautiful - and inevitably, addictive.

While the sci-fi details of Stranger Things ramp up the entertainment value of the series - "Wow, that tween just threw a whole van into the air with her mind!" - Dark uses time travel to help it interrogate the big questions of the world.
